What to expect
Your first session
A first session is a conversation, not a test. It lasts 50 minutes.
- 01
Step 1: Before you come
You get your fee in writing and a link to our intake forms on our own portal. Please do not send medical details through this website.
- 02
Step 2: The first conversation
We talk about what you want from therapy, what your nights and days are like, and what pace feels right. You do not have to tell your whole story.
- 03
Step 3: How we would work
Dr. Dugan explains the methods that might fit, including the sleep method CBT-I if it does, what each asks of you and what it can stir up. Then you decide.
- 04
Step 4: Before you leave
We take time to settle, agree on a next step and answer questions about fees and cancellation.
Questions
About the first session
01Do I have to talk about everything?
No. You decide what to share, and when. Many first sessions are about pace and what would help.
02Will I have to keep a sleep diary?
Only if you and Dr. Dugan decide to use CBT-I. It is a short daily note about your nights, and she explains it first.
03Is there anything to prepare?
Nothing special. If you are coming in person, tell us if anything would make the visit easier.
